Hello again, OutStandish people! We've had another busy week with noticeable progress occurring all the time. The biggest news from the week besides the re-shingling the roof, was the COMPLETION OF THE DECK! "The Dads" worked hard this weekend to put the finishing touches on the deck, including the spindles on the staircase. Way to Go, Deck Crew! Here are some pictures of the finished product: Read on as we check out the rest of our work on the Standish House!

As an additional bonus, below is the "coloring page" that we used to determine paint colors. Feel free to make copies of it and color the Standish House how you like.
Hello again, faithful followers! We had another big week working on the Standish House. This week, we have a update on the roof, check in on some people working overtime on the house, work on the windows, and wrap up with another testing of paint strippers.
Levi here again, OutStandish Fans! Before the weekly update on the happenings at the Standish House, we'd like to introduce our newest contractor! We recently hired Rob Begemann, a general contractor, and his crew at IC Restoration LLC. They've started work on our roof by repairing our soffits and the fascia, as well as extending the part of the roof that overhangs the second floor deck to its historic size. This week, they are putting a new roof on the house. Check in next week for more pictures of the work that Rob and IC Restorations have done. This week at the Standish House, we had a good number of people on hand to help out with the rehabilitation. My parents were on site, alongside Amanda's dad, Chris, as well as Amanda's grandparents, Tom and Gwen. Together we tackled multiple projects and made good progress on the house. Read on as we begin window restoration, test strippers on the interior wooden trim, continue work on the deck.
We had another productive weekend at the Standish House, over Labor Day. On Saturday, I teamed up with my dad to demo the kitchen drywall. We were asked by the electricians to remove the drywall in the kitchen so they could the access to the wiring that goes upstairs and install the new kitchen wiring. Also, they needed our plans for the kitchen so they can decide where to install outlets in the kitchen. I worked on tearing down drywall on a couple walls. As dad said, "There's no wrong way to tear it down..." In the process of demolition, I discovered a walled off chimney in the kitchen, which brings the total number of chimneys in the house to four. In the afternoon, I tore down two more interior walls in the 'weird room' upstairs. This should help the framing and construction of the new bathroom, laundry room, bedroom closet, game/linen closet area and save us from paying a contractor for demolition, which in some cases can be done ourselves. |
