Hi there, I'm Amanda! I attended Savannah College of Art and Design, and graduated with a Masters degree in Historic Preservation. Since that time, it is has been my dream to put that practical knowledge to work rehabilitating a historic home. My husband, Levi, is a graphic designer, and he is excited about this new venture. He is willing to learn new things, provide support, and a helping hand as we roll up our sleeves to work on this project.
We have been looking for a place to rehabilitate and call our own for a couple of years. When we found out the Jefferson City Housing Authority was accepting proposals for the Standish House, we jumped at the chance to submit a proposal of our own. Upon visiting the house, we were surprised at how nice it looked for being vacant for nearly fifteen years. Surprisingly intact, despite the fact that someone tried to remove all the electrical and plumbing. It is going to take a lot of hard work to rehabilitate this house. We are hoping to bring it back closer to its original form, while adding the modern touches. When we finish our work on the house, it is going to be “Out-Standish!” We are excited to begin work on the house and are happy you are here to follow along with us on the journey. Next time: Photos of the house!
