Last Wednesday, May 22nd, Jefferson City was hit by a tornado that cut through our town. Several neighborhoods were impacted by the storm, though luckily, no one died. The tornado hit the Capital Ave neighborhood, roughly a block away from the Standish House. The day after the storm, we ventured over to inspect the house for damage. We are happy to report that the house was barely touched. The only damage was to a single window in the staircase, which was blown out. The effects of the storm could have been a lot worse on the Standish House. We fully expected more damage, for instance the back porch to have been destroyed as it was already partially collapsed. We consider ourselves fortunate that everything turned out as it did. We send our thoughts and prayers to those that were affected by the tornado and we hope their road to recovery will be short. We are continuing to work towards a closing date on the house, and hope to have news to report soon.

There are plenty of curious people that want to see inside the Standish House. A lot of you have asked us questions, and stopped by when we have been on site hoping to take a look around. Most of the properties in the area have been shuttered for many years, and we are excited to give you a sneak peek of our house before we start work. When you are finished looking at the pictures, tell us your favorite features of the house in the comment section below. Enjoy! Exterior PhotosFirst Floor Interior PhotosSecond floor Interior Photos |
